Pokemon SoulSilver - The Viridian Gym

With my team healed at the Pokemon Center, I decided it was time to get my 8th Gym Badge from the Indigo League. I headed into the Viridian Gym, ready to battle Blue.

My team consisted of:

Blake (Feraligatr, Water, Lv. 60)
Samuel (Infernape, Fire/Fighting, Lv. 59)
Claire (Gengar, Ghost/Poison, Lv. 59)
Seth (Victreebel, Grass/Poison, Lv. 59)
Edward (Electabuzz, Electric, Lv. 60)
Rayquaza (Dragon/Flying, Lv. 71)

When I got inside, I was told by the man at the entrance that the floor was unstable, and that I would need to put my Pokemon away to get to Blue. I saw the floor was covered in multicolored tiles, each different color going a different direction.

From what I saw, red went forward, orange went back, cyan went right, and blue went left. I would have to navigate my way using the right red tiles to make my way to Blue. I saw a promising tile at the right, and I took it, and soon found myself on a special tile that stopped my momentum.

I saw another red tile nearby that looked correct, and I took it to another special tile. I took another one toward a special tile, then another path toward Blue onto another special tile. Soon enough I got through the maze without fighting a single Trainer, and I found myself before Blue.

Blue told me he wasn't feeling in the mood to battle on Cinnibar Island, but he was ready to fight now. I told him that I had conquered all the Gyms in Johto, and he just laughed, thinking that Johto's Gyms must be pathetic. Blue claimed he would know if I was good or not by battling me.

Blue sent out Exeggutor, and I sent out Blake. Blake used Crunch for massive damage, then Exeggutor countered with Leaf Storm for massive damage, and Blake went down instantly. I sent Claire out against it next, and she used Shadow Ball to knock it out.

Arcanine was sent out next, and I left Claire out to fight. Arcanine's Intimidate cut Claire's attack, but her focus is on special attack so it did nothing to weaken her. Claire hit Arcanine with Shadow Ball for massive damage, then it countered with Flare Blitz for massive damage, and she barely clung on while Arcanine got hit by recoil. Blue used a Full Restore to heal Arcanine, and Claire used Shadow Ball again for massive damage.

I sent Rayquaza out to fight Arcanine, and it used Flare Blitz for good damage. Rayquaza hit Arcanine with Dragon Claw and knocked it out, then Rhydon was sent out and I had Seth fight it. Seth used Leaf Blade for massive damage, and it was a critical hit that knocked Rhydon out instantly.

Pidgeot was sent out next, and I had Edward go out to face it. Edward used Thunderbolt for massive damage, and it barely clung on, then it used a Sitris Berry to heal before using Return for massive damage. Edward used Thunderbolt again, and struck down Pidgeot, then I sent out Rayquaza to fight Blue's Machamp. Rayquaza flew up high, then Machamp used Stone Edge for massive damage, before Rayquaza countered with Fly for massive damage, and took Machamp out instantly.

Gyarados was sent out next, and I sent Seth out against it. Seth took in sunlight, then Gyarados used Dragon Dance to increase it's attack, before it used Ice Fang for massive damage, then Seth countered with Solar Beam for massive damage. Gyarados used Ice Fang again, and Seth was knocked out, then I sent out Edward to fight. Edward hit Gyarados with Thunderbolt for great damage, and Gyarados was knocked out to win the battle!

Blue was shocked, wondering how he lost to me. Blue accepted his defeat, and handed over the Earth Badge! I could now use Rock Climb outside of battle, and he handed over TM92 (Trick Room) as well. Trick Room allows the slowest Pokemon to attack first, and the fastest Pokemon to attack last, a very curious move indeed.

I left the Viridian Gym with the last of my Indigo Gym Badges, and I knew I would have to seal the deal with another visit to the Elite Four. I received a call immediately after I left the Gym, it was Professor Oak, and he said something about getting me a present in appreciation of my hard work. He told me he picked something up, and forgot to give it to me. Professor Oak told me to go back to Pallet Town to pick up the gift, and I knew I'd have something interesting waiting for me.

Current Team:

Blake (Feraligatr, Water, Lv. 60)
Samuel (Infernape, Fire/Fighting, Lv. 59)
Claire (Gengar, Ghost/Poison, Lv. 59)
Seth (Victreebel, Grass/Poison, Lv. 59)
Edward (Electabuzz, Electric, Lv. 60)
Rayquaza (Dragon/Flying, Lv. 71)
