Pokemon Pearl - Sunyshore City

I flew around the Sinnoh Region to lather Honey on several trees before coming back, and I went around exploring the city. The first thing I noticed was a road above the town you could climb stairs to which allowed you to get around to different parts of the city, but the most interesting part of this was the fact that the road was made of solar panels to power the city! One man in the Pokemon Center told me that the city used a lot of power between the Lighthouse and the Sunyshore Gym.

I went around exploring, and came across an elderly couple who told me that Cyrus, the Team Galactic leader, was born and raised here. Apparently he liked technology more than people, and they didn't know what had happened to him. I guess that's the reason that they've not seen anything from Team Galactic in all this time.

I went through to one beach, and came across a girl named Jasmine, who told me she's a Gym Leader, but not of this town. She told me that she's a Gym Leader in the Johto Region, and that if I didn't have the badge here I'd be forced to turn back from the Pokemon League (as this goes toward the Sinnoh League building).

I went into one house and found a lot of people inside, all who were explorers of the Underground. I got advice about how to make the most of my time down there, and how to explore other parts of the Underground by digging down in different towns/cities, then I left to continue exploring.

I went to the Lighthouse, and headed on up, going to talk to the few people at the top. The first one I talked to happened to be the Gym Leader, Volkner, telling me that he had finished up renovating the Gym, and he'd find out if I was strong enough to fight the Pokemon League. He told me he wanted more than anything to have battles that could thrill him again. Volkner told me that he was planning on unleashing everything in his arsenal on me, and I knew I was ready.

I left the Lighthouse and did more exploring, and when I went on the upper path behind the Lighthouse I came across a natural rock formation called the "Pokemon Rock" that resembled a massive Snorlax. Next to the lookout point was a house I went up to with Rock Climb, and came across a scientist who immediately took notice of my Poketch. He asked to look at my Pokemon, then requested to see one with a Serious nature. I left the house, knowing I could come back afterwards with any Pokemon he needed to see for what I assume is a new Poketch App.

With nothing else to really do besides shop for Seals at the Sunyshore Market, I went to the Gym, where I met up with Flint at the entrance. He told me that Volkner had finally come back, and that he seemed to be feeling upbeat. Flint had a hunch that the guy had recognized my toughness immediately, and that he was probably getting excited at the thought of battling me. Flint reminded me that I needed to get into a great battle to get Volkner fired up again, then left.

Next time, I'm gonna take on the Sunyshore Gym!

Pokemon Pearl - The road to Sunyshore City

Started off checking out the other trees I lathered with Honey, and found an Aipom (Normal, Female, Lv. 8) who I caught with several Ultra Balls (she was too weak to try to weaken without being knocked out) before moving on. I Flew to Pastoria City, then went east toward Hotel Grand Lake. I decided to stop by the Seven Stars Restaurant to do some battling, and through it all Marcus grew to Level 43, while Annabelle grew to Level 44.

I healed my Pokemon at the hotel and then went east on Route 222, and came across a Rich Boy named Trey, who was looking for a fight. He sent out Luxio, and I sent out Maria, who used a Mud Bomb for massive damage that knocked Luxio out instantly and won the battle. I continued east past Trey and snagged some Berries and a Honey, before I went further on.

I came across another Trainer, and I sent out Maria against her Lopunny. Lopunny used Agility to increase it's speed, then Maria hit it with Body Slam for great damage. Lopunny used Charm next to lower Maria's attack, then she countered with Surf for massive damage, bringing it to the red. Lopunny used Dizzy Punch against Maria for good damage, then Maria finished it off with Water Pulse to win the battle.

I continued further east, and came across another Trainer who pondered why Trainers only threw Pokeballs, and gave me TM56 (Fling) which allows a Pokemon to hurl whatever item it's holding at the foe. It would affect the foe differently depending on what was being held, and of course would fail if the Pokemon wasn't holding anything.

I went past him and went further east, and was spotted by a Sailor and a Tuber, who sent out Remoraid and Mantyke, while I sent out Maria and Lucius. Maria's Quick Claw allowed her to use Body Slam first on Mantyke for massive damage, and made it paralyzed, then Lucius used Megahorn against Remoraid for massive damage, knocking it out instantly, and then Mantyke sprang up into the air. I had Lucius try Flamethrower, but it missed, then Maria's Body Slam missed too, then Lucius was hit by Bounce for minor damage and was paralyzed. Maria used Body Slam for great damage, knocking out Mantyke and ending the battle.

I used Paralyze Heal on Lucius, then went down to the beach to inspect a couple houses there. The first had a sign that said "Pokemon Size Contest" and I went inside. The man inside, a Fisherman, told me he had a dream that a Trainer would bring him a giant Remoraid, and I assumed I needed to bring over one for him to inspect. I decided not to bother for now (seeing as I wasn't near a Pokemon Center anyway) and checked out the next house.

The other house on the beach was the "Pikachu Fan Club" which apparently is big on Pikachu. I went inside and found one man surrounded by a half-dozen Pikachu. I talked to the man who said he was going for the Championship with only Pikachu, and I wished him luck in his endeavor before I checked on the Pikachu roaming around. A couple of the Pikachu just growled at me, and then the third one spoke. It turned out to be a little girl, and she sent out (of course) Pikachu, who was met by Annabelle. Pikachu used Agility to increase it's speed, then Annabelle hit it with Wood Hammer for massive damage and the knock out. I switched over to Maria for the next one, and it used Agility to increase it's speed, then Maria's Mud Bomb missed it. Pikachu tried using Feint, which failed, then Maria's second Mud Bomb hit for massive, super effective damage and won the battle.

I left the Pikachu Fan Club house to fight another Tuber on the beach, who went down easily enough against Maria, and she grew to Level 44. I continued exploring the beach and came across a Fisherman who wanted to fight, and I was happy to oblige him with a drawn-out battle against his pair of Gyarados and a Remoraid, but Marcus, Annabelle, and Maximus were able to take them down and win the battle. I healed my Pokemon up and continued against the next few Fisherman, who went down after a bit of work, and through it all Marcus grew to Level 44.

I went back east to continue on the path, and came across another Sailor looking for a fight. I sent out Alexander, while he sent out Feebas, and it used Splash for no effect, before Alexander's Cross Chop missed. Feebas tried Splash again, then Alexander hit it with Revenge for the knock out. Next up was Machoke, who hit Alexander with Vital Throw for good damage, then Alexander countered with Revenge for massive damage and knocked it out. Finally he sent out Gastrodon, and Alexander used Cross Chop for massive damage and brought it to the red, then it countered with Body Slam for good damage and caused paralysis. Gastrodon used Muddy Water for massive damage, then Alexander finished it off with Rock Smash for the win and he grew to Level 44.

I went through the gateway to Sunyshore City, and was met by a man with red hair. He told me that even though my Pokemon were secure in their Pokeballs, there was no masking an aura of "serious toughness." He then introduced himself as Flint, one of the Sinnoh League's Elite Four! He told me he had an idea he thought I could pull off, about the town's Gym Leader. I was told that the Gym Leader lost his enthusiasm lately because of so few worthy challengers, and that he's been so bored that he's focused all his time on renovating the Gym. When the blackout happened, his mood wasn't improved either.

Flint asked me to give him such a great battle that I would reignite the Gym Leader's passion for battling. He told me he was counting on me before he headed back to the city. I went east and entered Sunyshore City, the "Solar Powered" city as the sign said. I went to the Pokemon Center to heal my team, before I could go ahead and explore the city. I have no doubt that my team is strong enough to take on the Sunyshore Gym Leader easily, and reignite his passion.

Current Team:

Alexander (Machamp, Fighting, Lv. 44)
Lucius (Rapidash, Fire, Lv. 43)
Annabelle (Torterra, Grass/Ground, Lv. 44)
Maria (Gastrodon, Water/Ground, Lv. 44)
Marcus (Staraptor, Normal/Flying, LV. 44)

Pokemon Pearl - Odds and Ends

Seeing that I was in possession of Palkia, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, with 7 Gym Badges in my collection, and having just beaten Team Galactic for the last time, I decided to take a small break and try to fill up my collection of Pokemon.

I went back to the Solaceon Ruins and catch some more Unown to open up the Maniac Tunnel on Route 214, so I could increase my odds of catching another Pokemon. I don't really feel the need to get all 28 (alphabet and ?/! marks) seeing as they're all the same Pokemon otherwise, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to increase my collection. Using most of the extra Quick Balls I bought for Mesprit, I caught A, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, T, U, V, and W, and I still had the I-shaped Unown at the Daycare Center. Seeing how close I was to finishing my collection of Unown, I decided to grab some extra Quick Balls and grab the rest, finding B, S, Y, and Z, but X was a challenge to find. After about an hour of searching, I FINALLY captured X!

Before looking for the tunnel being dug by that Ruin Maniac, I went over to the Seven Stars Restaurant and battle the trainers there for some good, quick cash, and Alexander, Annabelle, and Maria all grew to Level 43! After that I healed my Pokemon and went over to Veilstone City, then went south on Route 214 to find the Maniac Tunnel. I went to the end of the tunnel and into an otherwise-inaccessible part of the Solaceon Ruins and caught both ! and ?, then I had to take a while going back and forth before I finally found and caught Hippopotas (Ground, Female, Lv. 22) with a Quick Ball.

I decided to head back to Solaceon Town to grab my I-shaped Unown and put it back in storage after growing to Level 40. While I was at the Pokemon Center PC, I decided to go ahead and arrange the Unown alphabetically, just because I preferred them being sorted out.

After all that, I went through my Pokedex to figure out what Pokemon I've seen that I haven't caught yet, and realized I could go to Route 218 by Canalave City and grab a Pokemon I had missed before. I caught Glameow (Normal, Male, Lv. 29), and noticed a Honey Tree nearby. I decided to try my luck at using Honey Trees in easy locations to find some rare Pokemon.

I lathered the Honey Tree at Route 218, then went to Floaroma Town to lather that tree too, as well as the one at the Valley Windworks and another nearby on the south end of Route 205. I continued over to Eterna City to lather the tree at the north end of Route 205, then I went to Veilstone and headed south on Route 214, near Lake Valor, and lathered that tree too. I decided to save my game and wait a few hours to find out what would come of all my hard work.

Over 6 hours later, I came back to the game, and I went south of Veilstone City to find the Honey Tree shaking. I went up to it and was disappointed to find a Wurmple. I escaped and went to check on the other trees. The northern tree on Route 205 held a Burmy (Bug, Female, Lv. 9) and caught it with a Net Ball. Burmy is an interesting species of Pokemon, because of two factors; One, they can have one of three different coverings depending on where they fought, leading to their evolution being one of three different Type combinations with Bug, leading up to factor two, where females evolve to be those combo types while males evolve into moth-like creatures. I'll need to breed a few females and one male to get myself all the different types!

I went over to Floaroma Town next, and the tree in the meadow just held a wurmple, and so did the one at the Valley Windworks, and the one on the southern part of Route 205 held a Cascoon. I went to the tree on Route 218, and found a Combee (Bug/Flying, Male, Lv. 6) and caught it with a Quick Ball. Combee is another interesting type because the males stay as Combee, while the females can evolve into Vespiqueen!

I decided to continue working to build up my Pokemon collection by fishing at Pastoria City for a Remoraid (Water, Male, Lv. 15) and caught one successfully. I decided to call it quits on fishing after that, since the others were all previously caught in Sapphire or coming up soon.

Finally, I went over to Route 209 and placed my Odd Keystone in the Hallowed Tower, then I used a trick with another DS and copy of Pearl to talk to another profile 32 times and awaken Spiritomb (Ghost/Dark, Male, Lv. 25) who I fought against with Maria. One Water Pulse brought it to the yellow, then one Ultra Ball caught it.

After all that, I decided to call it a day, determined to continue my adventure to get my 8th Gym Badge and then head to the Elite Four!

Current Team:

Marcus (Staraptor, Normal/Flying, Lv. 42)
Annabelle (Torterra, Grass/Ground, Lv. 43)
Lucius (Rapidash, Fire, Lv. 43)
Maria (Gastrodon, Water/Ground, Lv. 43)
Alexander (Machamp, Fighting, Lv. 43)
Maximus (Luxray, Electric, Lv. 44)

Pokemon Pearl - Catching the Lake Guardians

I decided that since I had beaten Team Galactic and just had the 8th Gym Badge to get now, I should go ahead and aim for those three Legendary Pokemon while I'm between objectives. I went ahead and grabbed some Ultra Balls, Timer Balls, Dusk Balls, and Quick Balls from various shops, and started at Twinleaf Town to visit Lake Verity first.

I surfed to the island in the middle of the lake, went inside, and saved, before I went up to Mesprit. A picture popped up of Mesprit, then it disappeared. Right after that, Professor Rowan came up behind me, telling me that I accomplished what he asked of me at the Canalave Library. Rowan asked me to get data on the Pokemon of the lake, and I did, but it didn't provide him answers to the mysteries of evolution. He still didn't know why some Pokemon evolve and some don't, and that this only deepened the mystery.

Professor Rowan told me that having mysteries to solve just made him happy, and told me to chase after Mesprit. Rowan believed that it wanted to play with me, and that I could track Mesprit on the Marking Map. After Rowan wished me luck and left, I headed out too, deciding that I should probably go ahead and try catching it first if it was going to be difficult.

I decided to head over to Eternia City and try my luck to the east, moving between Route 211 and the city. I switched to the Marking Map and sure enough, after a few seconds an icon popped up showing Mesprit to the south. I saved my progress at the edge of Eternia City, and put Maximus in starting position. My idea was to use Maximus' Spark to hopefully paralyze Mesprit and do some damage, assuming his speed was enough to land a hit before it ran.

I kept going between the two areas until I came across Mesprit, and Maximus managed to hit it with Spark for great damage before it fled, but no paralysis. I tried again, going back and forth a while before finally coming across Mesprit again, and Maximus used Spark again for great damage, but no paralysis. I knew I could only try once more before having to reload, what with the damage Maximus was causing. If I couldn't paralyze Mesprit, I knew it would be nearly impossible to catch without my Master Ball, and I know there's another Legendary Pokemon down the road I need that for.

I came across Mesprit a third time, hoping this final Spark would paralyze it and NOT knock it out. Maximus hit it with Spark, and it did great damage, bringing Mesprit to the red, but not paralyzed. I was disappointed as I had to reload my game to before I started between the two areas, trying the same strategy I had been. I encountered Mesprit a few times, hit it with Spark a few times, and got it to red without it being paralyzed. I decided to give a few tries with Quick Balls before I gave up and reloaded again.

On my third attempt, I managed to paralyze Mesprit, and I saved immediately after it fled. I don't mind using up 30 Quick Balls to catch the thing, but I know without a status effect like paralysis on top of critical health, Mesprit will be almost impossible to catch. I managed to bring Mesprit down to the red, while paralyzed, and I saved before continuing on. Time for the fun part, trying to catch it!

I kept at my routine a while before I encountered Mesprit again, and tried a Quick Ball. Mesprit just popped out of it and ran. I tried again for a while longer, and Mesprit just didn't want to be caught, escaping quickly or at best after a couple shakes. I kept at it though, going through several Quick Balls and Super Repels. I had to grab more Super Repels while I was in Eterna City before going back to Route 211.

After some effort though, and many Quick Balls, I finally managed to snag Mesprit out on Route 211. That's one down, two more to go!

Next I flew to Pastoria City and went east to Lake Valor, which was miraculously restored. I used Surf to get to the island at the center of the lake atop Maria, and went inside. I saved before I went up to Azelf, and I sent out Maximus. I figured I'd try the same strategy of Spark to damage/paralyze, then use Pokeballs.

Azelf used Nasty Plot to raise it's special attack, then Maximus used Spark for great damage. Azelf used Uproar for great damage, then Maximus used Spark again for great damage, that unfortunately knocked out Azelf. I reloaded, thinking that I'd try to fight with Maria and her Body Slam.

Another battle, and Maria used Body Slam for good damage, and paralysis! Then Azelf used Future Sight to ready an attack. I had Maria use another Body Slam for good damage, then Azelf used Nasty Plot to raise it's special attack. Maria used Body Slam again for good damage, then Azelf used Uproar for great damage, right before Future Sight hit for great damage too.

I switched out to Annabelle, who got hit by Uproar for great damage. I tried an Ultra Ball, one shake and Azelf broke free, then used Uproar for great damage. I had Annabelle use Mega Drain for minor damage which brought Azelf to the red, but then she was knocked out by Uproar.

I switched over to Alexander, then tried another Ultra Ball. Azelf broke out immediately, but was paralyzed and couldn't attack. I tried another Ultra Ball, but it broke out immediately, and was still paralyzed. I decided to try a Dusk Ball, and it ALMOST worked, but Azelf broke out at the last minute, and used Nasty Plot to raise it's special attack again. I tried another Dusk Ball, but two shakes and it was loose, then it used Uproar for massive damage. I sent out another Dusk Ball, and it broke out immediately but was stopped by paralysis. Another Dusk Ball was used, this resulting in escape after one shake, and then it knocked out Alexander with Confusion.

I sent out Maximus next, wondering how many of my team would fall before Azelf would be captured. I tried another Dusk Ball, but Azelf escaped immediately and hit Maximus with Confusion for massive damage, knocking him out in one blow. Next up was Lucius to take the punishment, while I tried yet another Dusk Ball. Azlef struggled to escape this one, barely getting out, then used Future Sight to ready an attack. I used one final Dusk Ball, and managed to catch Azelf!

With two Lake Guardians caught and one more to go, I flew to Snowpoint City after grabbing TM25 (Thunder) from the southeast corner of Lake Valor. I healed my Pokemon at the Pokemon Center, then headed over to Lake Acuity. I Surfed atop Maria to the island at the center of the lake, then entered the cave. I saved my game, then I confronted Uxie, the final Lake Guardian.

I sent out Maria, and Uxie used Future Sight before Maria hit it with Body Slam, which did good damage and caused paralysis. I had Maria use another Body Slam for minor damage, then it countered with Confusion for good damage. I had Maria use Surf for good damage, then Uxie was stopped by paralysis, but it's Future Sight attack hit for great damage. Maria used Body Slam again, and Uxie used Amnesia to raise it's special defense. Maria used one more Body Slam to bring Uxie to the red, then it hit Maria with Confusion for good damage.

I switched over to Annabelle, who was targeted by Future Sight. I threw a Dusk Ball, but Uxie escaped it immediately and was stopped by it's paralysis. I tried another Dusk Ball, and just one shake later Uxie escaped, and used Yawn to make Annabelle drowsy, right before Future Sight hit for good damage. I threw another Dusk Ball, and with a couple shakes Uxie escaped it too, but was stopped by it's paralysis. Annabelle fell asleep, but I just needed her to take the punishment Uxie might send out while I kept throwing Pokeballs. I threw another Dusk Ball, and Uxie escaped immediately, still stuck by paralysis. I didn't have too many more Dusk Balls, so I decided to try using an Ultra Ball, which didn't work at all.

Ultra Balls did nothing to Uxie, who used Amnesia to raise it's special defense, but I knew if I kept it up I could try Dusk Balls again or even get to use Timer Balls. Uxie tried to use Yawn, but Annabelle was still asleep. I tried another Dusk Ball, which did nothing, and then Uxie used Future Sight again. I tried one more Dusk Ball, before I planned to go back to Ultra Balls, and with a few shakes and a click, Uxie was caught!

I saved immediately after I caught Uxie, then I flew back to Pastoria City to heal my Pokemon and relax. I've caught Palkia, and now all three Lake Guardians. I feel pretty damn good about myself, and my team, and I look forward to catching the rest of the Legendary Pokemon!

Current Team:

Maria (Gastrodon, Water/Ground, Lv. 42)
Lucius (Rapidash, Fire, Lv. 43)
Alexander (Machamp, Fighting, Lv. 42)
Maximus (Luxray, Electric, Lv. 44)

Pokemon Pearl - Mt. Coronet, Spear Pillar, and the end of Team Galactic

I knew I had to prepare quite a bit for whatever would happen at the top of Mt. Coronet, so I went ahead and did a bit of shopping and used advice from Bulbapedia on what to get ready for. I grabbed several Full Heals, a few Hyper Potions, and I was advised to grab a bunch of Net Balls. I also went underground to do some mining, and I found a couple Revives that I'm sure would be helpful. Finally, I went ahead and taught Alexander Rock Climb in place of Submission. I decided before I started on Mt. Coronet to do a little exploring with Rock Climb and got a few items, including the Coin Toss and Move Tester Apps.

Finally I went to Oreburgh City and went north towards Mt. Coronet, and on my way there I got into a few battles with Trainers I had missed previously. After a few battles which I won easily (especially because of their low levels), Maria grew to Level 41 and I found a Dire Hit and a Rare Candy. I quickly flew back to Oreburgh City to heal (and leave another Armor Fossil to be revived), then went back north and headed inside Mt. Coronet.

I surfed through a small pond just north of the entrance, then used Rock Climb to get up to another level, and then went up stairs to the next floor of the mountain. I found a Max Potion and an Ether as I went through, and I got into a couple wild Pokemon battles with Maria. I started to ponder if I should make my way out and perhaps go back to Veilstone to buy more healing items, but I pressed on.

I kept heading up, and faced a Grunt who went down easily. I went past the Grunt, fought against a couple wild Pokemon, and Maximus grew to Level 42. I fought against another Grunt, he went down easily, and then I continued on. I went outside and into snow, and explored the area to find a few items, before I went further up the mountain and back inside. I explored a small cave, found a few more items, then headed back out and through the outside a bit to enter the mountain again in a bigger cave.

I encountered another couple Galactic Grunts, both of them went down easily, and Lucius grew to Level 42. I grabbed a few items around there, then I continued through the mountain. A wild Pokemon battle saw Alexander grow to Level 42. I went back outside through another opening in the mountain, and continued through before going back into the mountain through another cave and heading further up.

I went through this section of the cave, where I fought and beat another couple Grunts. Annabelle and Marcus both grew to Level 42 between those battles and fighting the Grunts. I went up some more stairs, and came across another Galactic Grunt who was determined to stop me. Determined as the Grunt was though, I took her Pokemon out easily. I went up and out of the caves, and found myself on Spear Pillar, a place filled with ancient ruins. I got into a Double Battle with a couple more Grunts, in which Maria grew to Level 42, and after winning the battle I healed my Pokemon before going forward to confront Cyrus and his Commanders.

I went ahead to find Cyrus, and between he and I were two of his Commanders. He told me all would end, and everything would begin. Cyrus said that he would use the Red Chain to open the portal to another dimension. Cyrus called upon Palkia, the master of Space and Dimensions, to enter our reality, and he dragged the powerful Pokemon into our world. Immediately Palkia's power started working, waves of energy emanating from it, while Cyrus told me that this would bring about complete destruction. He thought that with everything gone, there would no longer be fighting or strife. He told me only he could stop the dimensions from distorting, while Palkia's power worked over the entire Sinnoh region.

Cyrus revealed to me that the world could not be molded into the ultimate world he sought, that it was far easier to just create an entirely new world. He planned on ruling this new world as a deity, and I knew I had to stop him. I ran toward him, but was stopped by Mars and Jupiter, who planned to stop me and get revenge for all the times I've beaten them in battle.

Before I could think about taking them on back-to-back, Simon came running up behind me, getting between me and Jupiter. Jupiter recognized and taunted Simon for his failure back at Lake Acuity, wondering if he got any tougher since then. At that moment, they decided to take us on two-on-two, and I was glad to have Simon at my side.

Commanders Mars and Jupiter both sent out Bronzor, and I sent out Maria while Simon sent out Munchlax. I switched to Lucius so his Fire-Type attacks would do extra damage, then he got hit by Extrasensory for good damage, and Munchlax was hit with it by the other one too. Munchlax used Body Slam to do good damage against one Bronzor, and he paralyzed it. Lucius used Flamethrower for massive damage against the other Bronzor to knock it out, and then Munchlax used Screech against the paralyzed Bronzor, before it countered with a Gyro Ball. Purugly was sent out next, and Simon switched Munchlax out for Infernape, who got hit with Slash for great damage, and then Lucius used Flamethrower to knock out the remaining Bronzor.

As the battle continued, Golbat was sent out, and I had Lucius switch out with Maximus. Purugly hit Maximus with Slash for great damage, then Golbat hit Infernape with Sludge Bomb for good damage. Purugly hit Maximus with another Slash for great damage, then Infernape hit Purugly with Close Combat for massive damage that knocked it out, and after that Maximus hit Golbat with Spark for massive damage. Golbat used Mean Look on Maximus to keep him in the fight, and another Golbat was sent out. Infernape used Flame Wheel to knock out the weakened Golbat, then the other Golbat used Air Cutter to knock out Infernape and do minor damage to Maximus, who countered with Spark for massive damage and left it paralyzed.

Simon sent out Buizel next, and then Commander Jupiter sent out Skuntank. Maximus used Spark to knock out Golbat, and he grew to Level 43, then Buizel used Iron Tail on Skuntank for great damage. Skuntank used Poison Jab against Buizel for massive damage, knocking it out in one blow, and then Simon sent out Staraptor. Staraptor's Intimidate cut Skuntank's attack, before Staraptor missed with Take Down, then Maximus used Crunch for great damage, but got knocked out by Poison Jab. I switched out to Annabelle, and Staraptor used Quick Attack for great damage, then was hit by Poison Jab for great damage, before Annabelle finished the battle with Earthquake.

After the battle, Simon felt quite proud of himself and the strength of his Pokemon, telling me that he and his Pokemon could get even tougher. He told me though that that was it for them, that they've hit a wall. Simon fully healed my Pokemon, telling me it was my show now, and then he left.

I saw Palkia exuding it's power, the energy circling around it as it worked to create a new world. Cyrus thought it was fantastic, and beautiful, fawning over the creation of a new galaxy, of his new world. Suddenly, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf appeared in a triangle formation around Palkia, and stopped it's power from working, before disappearing. Mesprit appeared before me a moment before disappearing again with the others.

The Red Chain crumbled away to nothing, leaving Cyrus with no control over Palkia. He wondered why Mesprit, the Pokemon of Lake Verity, would appear by my side, but then brushed it off with his disappointment and anger over his failure to create a new world. He then told me he would not allow this, that he would capture those three again to craft another Red Chain, and I knew I had to stop him at that moment, right there. Fortunately for me, he was determined to destroy me, and I was itching for a fight.

Cyrus sent out Honchkrow, and I sent out Maria. Honchkrow used Embargo to stop item usage, then Maria hit it with Surf for great damage. I switched over to Maximus, and Cyrus used a Super Potion to heal Honchkrow. I had Maximus use Spark for massive damage, and knocked it out, and I kept Maximus in the fight when Cyrus sent out Gyarados. It's Intimidate cut Maximus' attack, but I knew that wouldn't help it much as Spark did massive damage (due to having 4x weakness against Electric-Type attacks), and knocked it out in one blow.

Next up was Weavile, and I switched Maximus out for Alexander. Alexander got hit by Brick Break for great damage, then Night Slash for good damage, before he took it out with Cross Chop. Finally Cyrus was down to his last Pokemon, Crobat, and I sent Maximus out again. Cryus wasn't pleased that I brought him down to this final Pokemon, and his Crobat used Confuse Ray on Maximus, who hurt himself in his confusion. Crobat used Bite for good damage, then Maximus snapped out of confusion to strike down Crobat with Spark, and he grew to Level 44 before the battle was over.

After the battle, Cyrus questioned me on my motives and ideals. He asked me what I considered perfection. Cyrus tried telling me what he considered perfect, but decided that telling me was meaningless. He told me he would not give up, that he would become a deity one day, and make the ultimate his. After that, all of Team Galactic left Spear Pillar, and I was left alone.

Professor Rowan and Dawn came up to me, and Rowan told me it was impossible to tell if Palkia was enraged or saddened. He told me that it appeared to be waiting for me, to challenge me as a test. Rowan told me to go on, to face up to Palkia, and I knew I was in for an interesting fight. He told me to listen to it's heart, understand it's thoughts, that Palkia was out of control after being dragged out by the Red Chain and forced to use it's power. Rowan said that Palkia seemed to entrust me with stopping it, and I knew I was ready. Dawn told me that she ran into Simon a little while before, that he said he believed in me, and that I could get the job done, and she told me she also felt the same way. Dawn asked me to help that Pokemon, that it was suffering from being dragged out by Team Galactic.

I made sure to save my progress, knowing that if something goes wrong I could just try to capture it again, but otherwise this was my only chance. I went up to Palkia, who roared at me before we battled. I sent out Maria against it, hoping her Body Slam would paralyze it. Her Quick Claw activated to land the first Body Slam, doing great damage, but then she got hit by Dragon Claw for great damage in return. Palkia used another Dragon Claw for great damage, and Maria countered with Body Slam for good damage. Palkia used Ancient Power against Maria who clung on, and she used another Body Slam for great damage, which brought it into the red AND paralyzed it!

I switched out to Annabelle, who I knew could take the hits. Annabelle got hit by Ancient Power for good damage when she went in, but then I went and tossed a Net Ball which shook 3 times, but it just managed to escape. I tried again, another 3 shakes but it escaped, then it used Spacial Rend against Annabelle for massive damage that brought her to the red. I used another Net Ball, only 1 shake before it escaped, and Water Pulse knocked out Annabelle.

I switched over to Maximus, then threw another Net Ball, which didn't stop Palkia at all. Palkia used Dragon Claw for great damage against Maximus, bringing him to the red. I used another Net Ball, so close, but it escaped again. I felt confident though, it had to struggle most times to escape this! I tried another Net Ball and it escaped immediately, then knocked Maximus out with Dragon Claw. I switched over to Alexander, though he was pretty badly hurt. I tried one more Net Ball, and FINALLY I managed to catch Palkia!

After I caught Palkia, Dawn and Rowan came up from where they were watching, with Rowan amazed at my strength. He told me I was magnificent, that I was truly incredible, and that in his 60 years he's never been thrilled like that! Dawn told me that since the last time, Rowan did a lot of research, and he became very concerned about me, enough to send him all the way out there. Dawn was glad I was safe, and said that we should go home. As Dawn and I left, Rowan pondered on the idea that none have the right to take away anyone's future or world.

I found myself at the entrance Spear Pillar, but I didn't want to leave quite yet. I remembered seeing an item behind Palkia when he appeared, and I went north past where he rose to find it. What I found was a Lustrous Orb, which I assume powers up Palkia if he's holding it. After that I made my way out of Mt. Coronet, with a wild Pokemon battle bringing Lucius to Level 43. I found TM02 (Dragon Claw) while on my way out, as well as an Escape Rope, before I left Mt. Coronet.

I found myself on Route 211, and made my way to Celestic Town, where I healed up my Pokemon, then decided to talk to Cynthia's Grandmother, who had been doing some research and showed me a very old book which had a picture of Dialga in it, describing it as the guardian Pokemon of Time. With that I had Palkia in my collection, and Dialga registered in my Pokedex.

I decided it would be a good time to head on to Twinleaf Town to rest up a bit. Mom had dinner ready, and it was fucking delicious. I feel invincible after capturing a deity-like Pokemon. I can't wait to get my 8th Gym Badge and take on the Elite Four!

Pokemon Pearl - Assault on the Galactic HQ!

Once I healed my Pokemon up at the Pokemon Center, I made my way to the Team Galactic HQ with my new Galactic Key. It was finally time to break my foot off in a few assholes.

I went in through the center door to the main lobby, unlocked the big doors, then headed upstairs. I found a Full Heal at the top of the stairs, then went east into a room with a couple Grunts. The first one sent out a Golbat, and I sent out Annabelle. Golbat used Mean Look to keep Annabelle in the fight, then she hit it with Cut for great damage. Golbat used Wing Attack for great, super effective damage, then Annabelle hit it with another Cut for great damage. Golbat went and used Confuse Ray to confuse Annabelle, but she powered on through it to use Mega Drain for minimal damage and healing. Golbat used Air Cutter for great damage, then Annabelle used Cut again to knock it out. Another Golbat was sent out, and I sent out Lucius to fight it. Lucius hit it with Fire Blast for massive damage, but it managed to cling on and use Confuse Ray against him. Lucius used Stomp to finish it off and win the battle.

The other Grunt used a Golbat and Silcoon, and both went down easily against Maximus and Lucius. I used a Fresh Water to heal up Annabelle and continued on. I went through a few warp panels to find a Max Revive, then went back through them to find a "Team Galactic TV Room" that held a Scientist who wanted to fight. I sent out Annabelle, and he sent out Kadabra. I switched over to Lucius, and had him use Megahorn for massive, super effective damage that knocked it out and won the battle. I went through the warp panel at the southwest corner of the room and found myself by some stairs, and the room next to me was the "Team Galactic Nap Room" which allowed me to rest my Pokemon and heal them.

I went up the stairs and found a Full Restore before getting into a Double Battle with a couple Grunts. I sent out Annabelle and Maximus, and they sent out Stunky and Croagunk. Maximus used Crunch against Croagunk for great damage, then Annabelle hit Stunky with Wood hammer for massive damage while being hurt by recoil, and then Stunky hit Maximus with Night Slash for good damage, while Croagunk used Mud Bomb against Maximus for massive, super effective damage. I had Maximus switch out with Marcus, and then I had Annabelle use Earthquake for massive, super effective damage against both Pokemon, knocking them out. Another Croagunk and Stunky were sent out, and I had Annabelle use another Earthquake, but not before Marcus got hit by Sucker Punch. Annabelle's Earthquake did massive damage against both Pokemon, knocking them out like the previous ones. Annabelle grew to Level 41, and then a Glameow was sent out. Marcus hit it with Fly for massive damage, knocking it out and winning the battle.

After going back to the Nap Room to heal my Pokemon, I continued past the two Grunts and found a few warp panels. I took the middle one and found an Elixer, then went back and took the left one and headed up some stairs. I found another set of locked doors that I opened with the Galactic Key, and found myself face to face with Cyrus, the leader of Team Galactic. He had heard of a Trainer fighting their way through the HQ, surprised that I was a "mere child." He knew why I was there, that I wanted to save the lake guardians, telling me he had no further need for them. Cyrus told me to go ahead and save them, that he didn't care and I'd save him the trouble of disposing of them. He was impressed by my will though, that I would go through so much just to save a few Pokemon out of pity and compassion.

Cyrus said that pity and compassion are products of a weak and lacking human heart, that it was just sentimentality. He told me he'd make me regret following my heart, and then we battled. I sent out Maximus, and he sent out Murkrow. Maximus used Spark for massive, super effective damage that knocked it out in one blow, and he grew to Level 41. Next up was Golbat, and I kept Maximus in the fight. Golbat used Poison Fang for great damage, a critical hit, but Maximus countered with Spark for massive damage that knocked it out instantly. Finally Sneasel was sent out, and I sent out Alexander. Sneasel used Screech, then Alexander hit it with Revenge for massive damage, knocking it out instantly, and the battle was won.

Cyrus was impressed by my strength, believing that the basis of my power was my compassion toward Pokemon. He believe it to be wasteful, that such emotions are just illusions, and that they fade over time until death banishes them. Cyrus had abandoned all emotions as useless sentimentality, but decided I would never understand his position. He however had recognized my strength and courage for coming alone, and gave me a Master Ball as a reward. Cyrus told me it wasn't something useful to him, that unlike Trainers he didn't wish to make Pokemon his friends or partners. He didn't use Pokemon as tools either, like his subordinates, instead he just made their power his own.

Cyrus told me to take the warp panel ahead to save the Pokemon, and that he was off to Mt. Coronet, where he and I first met. He said he would reach the mountain peak and put an end to everything, or more appropriately bring about a new beginning for everything. Then Cyrus left, and I found a Nugget in the room and a PC with interesting reports. To summarize everything in the PC, the creation of the world and the Sinnoh region was assumed to be the work of a powerful Pokemon, one that ancient people regarded as a deity, and that capturing it in a Pokeball would limit it's power, but by extracting crystals from the Pokemon of the lakes a red chain could be created that would summon and control this powerful Pokemon.

I went back to rest my Pokemon, then headed through the warp panel to I assume an underground lab. I passed through a hallway filled with things floating in a green fluid, with a couple Scientists who seemed to doubt what they were doing, who seemed ashamed of the work they had been doing. I found Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit all sealed in machines, suffering pain from the experiments. I then went up to the Galactic asshole who was running the machines.

It was Commander Saturn at the controls. He didn't understand why his boss would let someone like me come and go freely, and told me that Team Galactic takes all they need and eliminate what they don't. He decided to try getting revenge after his defeat at the lake, and I was ready to fight him with everything I got. Saturn sent out Kadabra, and I sent out Lucius. Lucius used Megahorn for massive damage, knocking it out instantly. Next up was Bronzor, and Fire Blast was all that was needed to knock it out. Last up was Toxicroak, and I decided to send out Marcus to fight it. Marcus' Intimidate cut it's attack, and then he flew high. Toxicroak missed Poison Jab because Marcus was flying, then he swooped down to hit it with Fly for massive damage, taking it out in one blow. Marcus grew to Level 41, and the battle was won.

Commander Saturn relented, and told me the button on the machine would set the Pokemon free. He was true to his word, and the lake guardians disappeared immediately. Saturn told me that Cyrus had crafted a Red Chain from the crystals he took from the three, and it's exactly what he needs to shackle this "deity" Pokemon on Mt. Coronet. Before he left, Commander Saturn said he had no idea what Cyrus was planning on doing up there with the Pokemon.

I left the Galactic HQ after making my way to the ground floor on one last warp panel, and then I went to heal my Pokemon and gather supplies for the journey up Mt. Coronet. If there's going to be a powerful Pokemon being summoned, I'm sure I'll need some Pokeballs!

Pokemon Pearl - Infiltrating the Galactic Warehouse

Before I went to Lake Acuity, I decided to have Marcus fly me over to Pastoria City to talk to the Move Relearner, who taught Annabelle Wood Hammer in place of Synthesis, and Lucius Megahorn in place of Fire Spin. Wood Hammer is a powerful physical Grass-Type move that has recoil, but takes advantage of Annabelle's focus on attack over special attack, and the Bug-Type Megahorn gives me an attack to counter Psychic-Types. With a couple powerful moves taught to my Pokemon, I headed back to Snowpoint City to check out Lake Acuity.

I found the Galactic Grunts near the entrance to the Acuity Lakefront, but they weren't blocking access anymore. I went through to the Lakefront, and found Simon fighting with a Galactic Commander. By the time I got there he lost to her, and was being taunted by her for his weakness. She wanted to get out of the cold and back to the Veilstone HQ, when she headed out and noticed me at the entrance.

It was Commander Jupiter, we had fought at the Eternia Galactic Building, and she told me that Team Galactic was going to do something huge "for everyone's sake." She told me to keep out of their way, and not to come whining about "poor Pokemon and other trivial junk like that." She warned me against coming to the Veilstone HQ, then left.

I went up to Simon, and he told me he couldn't do anything against Team Galactic. He told me the Pokemon, Uxie, was suffering, and promised me to get tougher for reasons bigger than winning or losing. He then left me alone, and I knew what I had to do.

I flew immediately to Veilstone City, and got ready for a fight. I grabbed several bottles of Fresh Water, and went to the Galactic HQ. I came across a Galactic Grunt admiring one of the large antenna dishes, before he noticed me. Apparently I had fought him before, and because he lost to me they took away his Clefairy, and his partner called it quits to return to his old country. He then said he didn't know anything about any Storage Key before running off.

I made my way into the Galactic HQ after picking up the Storage Key he left behind. I went in through the door at the right (of 3 doors) and found an area with teleporters, but I couldn't use them, so I left. The first and second doors led to the lobby area, and the big locked doors to the rest of the building needed a special key I didn't have. I decided to leave, and check the Galactic Warehouse nearby.

I went up the stairs into the Warehouse, and used the key to get through big locked doors, and the Storage Key broke inside the keyhole before the doors opened. I grabbed a Dusk Stone just past the doors, then headed down some stairs to a lower floor. I encountered a scientist who had been with Team Galactic for years, and a locked door. I went down a hallway and came across a Galactic Grunt itching for a fight.

The Grunt sent out Golbat, and I sent out Maria. Golbat used Mean Look to keep Maria trapped in battle, and then Maria used Body Slam for massive damage, putting Golbat in the red. Maria's Quick Claw activated, and she then used Water Pulse to knock it out and win the battle. I proceeded past the Grunt and found a Zinc in a side room, which I pocketed before continuing on, and it looked like the hallway I was in went underneath the main HQ.

I came across another Galactic Grunt, and we had a battle. He sent out Dustox, and I sent out Maria. Maria used Body Slam for great damage, then she got hit by Whirlwind and was switched out for Alexander. Alexander used Cross Chop for great damage, but Dustox stayed conscious in the red, and it failed to use Whilrwind again. Alexander then used Rock Smash and knocked it out, and he grew to Level 41. Next up was Bronzor, and I sent in Marcus to fight. Marcus' Intimidate cut Bronzor's attack, then he went in and used Close Combat for massive damage that put Bronzor in the red. Bronzor used Iron Defense to increase it's defense, then Marcus hit it with Take Down to knock it out and win the battle.

I continued up some stairs at the end of the hallway, and came across another Galactic Grunt, but he didn't even have any Pokemon to fight with. I went past him up some more stairs, and came across another Grunt, who had Pokemon ready to fight. I sent out Maria to battle her Glameow, and it's Assist failed before it was hit by Surf for massive damage which knocked it out and won the battle. Before I continued on, she told me that they made their way around the building with warp panels, wishing me luck in figuring them out.

I took the right warp panel, and TM49 (Snatch) was waiting for me in the second half of the room I first entered. I then went back and took the left warp panel, then went south to take the next warp panel, and then I found some stairs leading up. I came across another Grunt who wanted to fight, and I beat him easily enough with Maria, who grew to Level 40. I kept on exploring, and came across a scientist who wanted to fight. I fought him and beat him easily, with Lucius' new Megahorn attack coming in handy against his two Kadabras, and Lucius grew to Level 41.

I kept exploring, finding TM36 (Sludge Bomb) and finally a Galactic Key, to make my way into the Team Galactic HQ. I used the key to unlock the big doors from early on in the Warehouse, and I left to heal my Pokemon and prepare for my assault on the Galactic HQ!

Pokemon Pearl - Snowpoint Gym

I explored the city a bit, not finding too much other than a Sailor who would sail a league champion somewhere, and a large temple in the northernmost part of the city that wouldn't allow entrance. I then decided it was time to get my 7th badge.

My team consisted of:

Lucius (Ponyta, Fire, Lv. 39)
Maximus (Luxray, Electric, Lv. 40)
Maria (Gastrodon, Water/Ground, Lv. 39)
Annabelle (Torterra, Grass/Ground, Lv. 40)
Alexander (Machamp, Fighting, Lv. 39)
Marcus (Staraptor, Normal/Flying, Lv. 40)

I went inside to find the several levels of ice floors, stairs going from one to another, and giant balls of snow. It makes sense that the Snowpoint Gym Leader would be an Ice-Type specialist, so I knew that Lucius and Alexander were going to be my go-to Pokemon for this.

I went on the ice, and found that moving on it send me sliding whatever direction I was heading until I met a wall or some snow on the floor. I moved around a bit, and found myself against a Trainer who was freezing in the Gym. Lucius got badly hurt in the first turn by his Water-Type, but I got through okay with Alexander. I healed both before continuing my way through, trying to figure out how to get to the Gym Leader.

I went through slowly, not making much progress, getting a bit frustrated that I couldn't just go through and fight the Gym Leader. I found another Trainer, and fought against her Water-Type Pokemon with Maximus, then took out her Steelix with Lucius to win the battle easily, and I kept onward.

After some moving, I slid south from the northernmost part of the gym, and managed to break through two giant snowballs at the center. I realized that I would need to gain lots of momentum to get through all those snowballs and get to the Gym Leader. I went further, smashing another few snowballs, before I got caught by another Trainer. She sent out Snowver, and I sent out Lucius with Flamethrower to knock it out and win the battle, then Lucius grew to Level 40 and evolved into Rapidash!

I went east to smash another snowball, and get into another battle. The Trainer had Quagsire, and I sent out Alexander. Quagsire, who just managed to hold onto consciousness after getting hit by Revenge, put Alexander to sleep, and I switched to Maria to knock it out and win the battle. I used Awakening afterwards to wake Alexander up, and then I kept going through smashing those snowballs.

I got into another couple battles while clearing out the snowballs, in which Alexander grew to Level 40 and learned Cross Chop in place of Vital Throw. I was starting to get irritated at all the battles I had to go through just to get to the Gym Leader, trying to figure out how to get the snowballs all smashed so I could finally reach her.

After a lot of patience and persistence, I finally managed to reach the end and face the Snowpoint Gym Leader, Candice. She told me she had been waiting for someone tough, and that she was tough because she knows how to focus. Then we battled.

I sent out Alexander, and she sent out Snover, whose Ability, Snow Warning, caused hail to fall and do minimal damage to all non-Ice-Type Pokemon. Alexander started out with Revenge, which did massive damage and knocked it out in one blow. Next she sent out Abomasnow, to which I responded with Lucius. I had Lucius use Fire Blast for massive damage, and it knocked out Abomasnow in one blow. The next Pokemon sent out was Sneasel, and I kept Lucius in the fight. He used Flamethrower for massive damage, another one-hit knock out.

Finally Medicham was sent out, and I switched to Alexander. It used Detect to protect itself from Revenge, and then I switched over to Marcus, knowing his Flying-Type attacks would be effective against a Fighting-Type Pokemon. Marcus got hit by Ice Punch for great, super effective damage, but his Intimidate also cut Medicham's attack in half. Marcus Flew high, and Medicham used Bulk Up to up it's attack and defense, but then Marcus struck for massive damage, with Medicham clinging on to consciousness, and it countered with Ice Punch to knock out Marcus. However, because of Snover's hail continuing on, Medicham got hit by hail and was knocked out too, and the battle was won!

Candice was very impressed with my skill and strength, and she gave me the Icicle Badge! With this new badge I can now use Rock Climb outside of battle, and she also handed over TM72 (Avalanche) a move that doubles in strength if the user takes damage. I left the Snowpoint Gym with my 7th Badge, and headed to the Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon and revive poor Marcus, who did such a good job in the end.

Now perhaps I can go to Lake Acuity and check up on Simon.

Current Team:

Alexander (Machamp, Fighting, Lv. 40)
Maximus (Luxray, Electric, Lv. 40)
Maria (Gastrodon, Water/Ground, Lv. 39)
Annabelle (Torterra, Grass/Ground, Lv. 40)
Lucius (Rapidash, Fire, Lv. 40)
Marcus (Staraptor, Normal/Flying, Lv. 40)

Pokemon Pearl - Treacherous road to Snowpoint City!

The map shows Lake Acuity and Snowpoint City being VERY far north, at the end of a long path. I knew that there would be many dangers heading up there, lots of Trainers and powerful Pokemon who can survive that weather, so I stocked up on items. I grabbed about 15 Fresh Waters from the Veilstone Department Store (Which are as useful as Super Potions), and a few Antidotes, Burn Heals, Freeze Heals, and Awakenings. I also taught Maximus Strength in place of Charge, knowing that I'd probably need that move to proceed through the path.

I flew over to Celestic Town, heading west on Route 211 to reach Mt. Coronet, and I went inside. I went north, pushing a boulder aside, then I went down into the mountain. I found this area below to be very foggy, but I refuse to teach any of my Pokemon the Defog HM because there are already too many HMs to have to learn, and I can go through without too much trouble. I found an underwater pond, and found a Light Clay and Max Elixir around there when I used Surf. I went north while down there and then found a way out of the mountain and... into snow.

I found myself on Route 216, and went around to find a Full Heal and Ice Heal, before looking through tall grass to find some new Pokemon. I managed to catch a Sneasel (Dark/Ice, Female, Lv. 33) and a Snover (Grass/Ice, Male, Lv. 32) before I continued on. I came across an Ace Trainer who sent out Ambipom, and I sent out Maximus. Ambipom used Sand Attack to lower Maximus' accuracy, but he still hit with Spark for massive damage, and caused paralysis. Maximus finished it off with Crunch, and grew to Level 39, then I switched out to Annabelle when Kadabra was sent out. Kadabra used Psybeam for great damage against Annabelle, who countered with Earthquake for massive damage and a one-hit knock out, winning the battle.

I went up some stairs and across a couple bridges to find another Ace Trainer, who sent out Lopunny, while I sent out Annabelle. Lopunny used Quick Attack for good damage, while Annabelle used Mega Drain for minor damage and healing. Annabelle then used Earthquake for massive damage, and Lopunny missed it's attack. Lopunny hit Annabelle with Quick Attack for good damage, then Annabelle finished it off with Cut, and grew to Level 39. Annabelle also learned Synthesis in place of Leech Seed. The battle was won, and I continued on.

I fought another couple Trainers along the way, which saw Alexander and Maria grow to Level 39. I then found a building called the Snowbound Lodge, and inside were a couple people keeping warm from the snow. I fell asleep in the nearby bed and healed up my Pokemon. I then continued on to find another Trainer, and after I won the battle Lucius grew to Level 39.

As I continued north I found that the snow became a blizzard, and I knew it would only be harder from here. I came across another Ace Trainer, and I sent out Annabelle against his Raichu. It used Slam for good damage, then Annabelle countered with Earthquake to knock it out. Next up was Pelipper, and Annabelle used Mega Drain for good damage, while Pelipper missed it's attack. Annabelle Cut it for good damage, but then Pelipper used Roost to heal itself. Annabelle used Cut again for good damage, and then Pelipper healed itself fully with Roost. I switched to Maximus, and he avoided Pelipper's Supersonic. Maximus used Spark for massive damage to knock out Pelipper in one blow, before I switched out to Maria to fight his Hippopotas. Maria used Surf for massive damage to knock it out, and win the battle.

I fought against another Trainer, who I beat quickly, then slowly made my way further north. I passed several Trainers, not exactly wanting to fight when I could barely move through the thick snow. I came across a house in the snow, and within was a Hiker who told me he dropped an HM in the snow. It was HM08 (Rock Climb), and I found it nearby just north of the house. I went back inside to hand it over, but he said he gave it up for lost, and told me I could keep it. He liked my honesty though, and gave me an Icicle Plate. I found some Iron and TM07 (Hail) around there before continuing north.

I fought against another Trainer, and Annabelle grew to Level 40. I came across another house, finding a woman who was unused to having visitors, and she gave me a Spell Tag as a gift. I found myself against yet another Trainer, she had a couple Pokemon that were taken out quickly by Maximus, then I came across ANOTHER Trainer and beat him too. I started to wonder just how many were in this rough, strenuous Route, and if I would ever find my way out of it. Marcus grew to Level 40 after winning against the previous Trainer, and I kept on going north.

I found myself on Route 217, heading up to Acuity Lakefront, and before I could go much further another Ace Trainer pulled me into battle. She sent out Roselia, and I sent out Lucius, who used Fire Blast to knock it out in one blow. Seaking was sent out next, and I sent out Maximus to fight it. Maximus used Spark for massive, super effective damage that knocked it out in one blow, and he grew to Level 40. The battle was won, and I kept going north, wondering how much more I had to go...

I finally made it out of the blizzard and to the entrance of the Acuity Lakefront, only to find a pair of Galactic Grunts blocking the entrance. The one told me that they were there to make sure that the Snowpoint Gym Leader didn't try to stop them, though I really wish I could have just sucker-punched the pair and ran in. I decided to keep going north to find Snowpoint City and out of this dangerous terrain.

I had to head east a ways, finding an Ultra Ball in a side path, but finally, FINALLY I found my way out of Route 217 and into Snowpoint City. I made my way immediately to the Pokemon Center to heal my team. After getting my team healed up, I decided I'd go exploring the city before taking on the Snowpoint Gym.

Current Team:

Lucius (Ponyta, Fire, Lv. 39)
Maximus (Luxray, Electric, Lv. 40)
Maria (Gastrodon, Water/Ground, Lv. 39)
Annabelle (Torterra, Grass/Ground, Lv. 40)
Alexander (Machamp, Fighting, Lv. 39)

Pokemon Pearl - Attack on the Sinnoh Lakes!

I went into the Canalave Library after I got my Pokemon healed up, going to the top floor where I read all those legends, and I met up with Simon. He brought me over to a table where I found Dawn and Professor Rowan waiting for me, apparently with something important to talk about. Simon then went to leave, but Rowan just glared at him and he came back to sit with us. I gotta ask Rowan how he did that, so I can get Simon to quit running the fuck around everywhere.

Professor Rowan reminded me that he studies the evolution of Pokemon, and that the more he studies, the more mysteries appear, and even multiply. He still had no idea what made evolving and non-evolving Pokemon different from each other. He wondered if those that are immature as living beings evolve to mature beings, and if so what to make of the Legendary Pokemon that don't evolve. He pondered if Legendary Pokemon are complete as creatures.

Apparently this is where Dawn, Simon and I came in. In the three lakes of Sinnoh, there are said to be mirage Pokemon, and Rowan wanted us to obtain data on them to possibly shed light on how the process of Pokemon evolution works. He said he needed help from each of us to do this, and asked us to help him find these Pokemon considered nothing but mirages. It was then that Simon said that he didn't get a Pokedex, to which Rowan replied that it was Simon's own fault for bolting from the lab before he had a chance to hand him one. I had to wonder why Simon was such a fucking idiot, and why he was always rushing everywhere without listening to people or taking in the situations he found himself in.

Professor Rowan said it was water under the bridge, that seeing Pokemon with your own eyes is important to becoming a better Trainer too. Dawn promised to help Rowan, knowing it would help with her Pokedex too, and I promised to help as well. Rowan revealed that he would have made us all go regardless, before continuing with the plan. As there are three lakes and three of us, each of us would go to a lake to get information on one mirage Pokemon each. Dawn was told to go to Lake Verity, Simon was to go investigate Lake Acuity (which would take him through treacherous roads), and I would head to Lake Valor.

Suddenly there was a short earthquake, and we all left the building to find out what was happening. When I got outside with the others, Rowan said the tremor wasn't a natural occurrence. A sailor came up to us, telling us that something big had just happened, that there was a huge explosion at Lake Valor! Simon told Rowan that he was going to the lake, that he had a bad feeling about this, before running off. Professor Rowan complained about Simon not being able to sit still, then told me he was worried about Lake Valor too, and told me to go find out what was happening. He warned me not to get in over my head, and told me he'd try to join me as soon as he and Dawn inspected Lake Verity.

Dawn worried about me, but my Pokemon are strong and so am I. I had Marcus fly me to Pastoria City, and quickly grabbed a few berries before I traveled through Route 213 and Hotel Grand Lake to make it to Lake Valor. When I got there, I found a Galactic Grunt who was gloating about getting to Lake Verity, and how they'd roll right through nearby Twinleaf Town, my character's hometown, to do the same thing.

I went through the crater, finding a few poor Magikarp flopping weakly about, and then I came across another Grunt. Seeing the destruction of the lakefront, I was pissed, and the grunt dared to threaten me to join the Magikarp flopping about. I gave this cunt the finger and sent out Annabelle, while she sent out Glameow. Glameow used Charm to lower Annabelle's attack, then she countered with Earthquake to do massive damage. Glamoew used Assist next, then used Sucker Punch for minor damage, then Annabelle took it out with Cut. Next up was Croagunk, it used a Sucker Punch for minor damage, and then Annabelle used Earthquake for massive damage, and it was knocked out in one blow. The battle was won, and the Grunt told me they already found the sunken island under the lake, and the Pokemon within.

I came across another Galactic Grunt, gloating about having set off the "Galactic Bomb" before fighting me. I sent out Annabelle again, and he sent out Golbat. Golbat used Wing Attack for great damage, and countered with Cut for great damage. Golbat used Bite for minor damage, and then Annabelle used Mega Drain for minor damage. I switched out to Maximus, and he got hit by Air Cutter for minor damage. Maximus used Spark for a super effective knock out, and then Croagunk was sent out while I switched to Marcus. Marcus' Intimidate cut Croagunk's attack, and then he got hit by Sucker Punch for minor damage before using Close Combat for massive damage. Marcus went high while Croagunk used Nasty Plot to up it's special attack, and then it got hit by Fly for the win.

I came across another Galactic asshole, putting him down fairly easily with my powerful team, and Maximus grew to Level 38. I found the entrance to a cave, and a nearby Grunt thought I was one of the idiots they fooled into guarding the entrance, then he told me it doesn't matter who I am, that it was too late to make any difference. He said things were going to get interesting now, that all the legendary Pokemon are going to be brought to the Veilstone HQ.

I went into the cave, and came across Commander Saturn. He said how things were going according to plan, and when he noticed me he told me that any sort of defiance would not be tolerated, and then challenged me to a battle. I sent out Annabelle, and he sent out Kadabra. Kadabra used embargo to stop Annabelle's item usage, then she countered with earthquake for massive damage and the knock out. Annabelle grew to Level 38, then I switched to Lucius to fight his Bronzor. Lucius used Fire Blast for massive, super effective damage that took it out in one shot. Next up was Toxicroak, and I kept Lucius in the fight. Lucius tried using Fire Blast but it missed, then he got hit by Revenge for great damage. Lucius tried again, and landed a Fire Blast on Toxicroak for massive damage, but it regained health with a Sitrus Berry, and hit Lucius with Revenge for the knock out. I switched to Maria, and she used Water Pulse for good damage, then she got hit by Revenge for great damage. Toxicroak missed with Mud Bomb, then Maria hit it with Surf to knock it out and win the battle.

After the battle, he was ashamed that a Commander like himself could only buy them time, but told me that I would never be able to stem the flow of time. He told me that Team Galactic would get the three Legendary Pokemon, and that with all three they would create an entirely new universe. He said Mars should have already caught the Pokemon of Lake Verity, and then left.

I had Marcus fly me to Twinleaf Town, where I healed my Pokemon at my home, then I ran over to Lake Verity. I found Professor Rowan there at the lake with several Galactic Grunts. He told me what I already knew, that the Grunts were after the Legendary Pokemon. He then said that Dawn needed help, and I went onward to fight a couple Grunts. I took them out fairly easily, and Maria grew to Level 38. I went onward and found another couple Grunts to fight, taking them out easily as well.

I found Dawn fighting with another Galactic asshole, Commander Mars. I had beaten her before at the Valley Windworks, and she remembered me for it. She apparently got in trouble for losing against me there, and wanted revenge. She sent out Golbat, and I sent out Annabelle. Golbat used Supersonic to confuse Annabelle, but she was able to use Cut for good damage. Golbat used Air Cutter for great damage, and Annabelle countered with Mega Drain for minor damage. I switched over to Maximus, and he got hit by Toxic for increasing Poison damage. Golbat used Supersonic, but missed, then got hit by Spark for massive damage, and it was knocked out. Maximus got hurt by Poison, then I switched to Alexander to fight her Bronzor. Bronzor used Extrasensory for great damage, a critical hit, then Alexander countered with Revenge for massive damage that knocked it out. Finally she sent out Purugly, and I sent out Annabelle again. Annabelle got hit by Faint Attack for good damage, but then hit Purugly with Leech Seed which regained her some health. Purugly used Slash for good damage, and then Annabelle countered with Earthquake for massive damage, before Purugly used a Sitrus berry to heal, and then Leech Seed brought Annabelle some health. Purugly used Slash for good damage, then Annabelle used Mega Drain for good damage and some healing, and then Leech Seed knocked out Purugly and the battle was won.

Commander Mars wasn't happy about losing again, saying she owed me for the Windworks AND Lake Verity, and that this shouldn't be happening to Team Galactic's Commander. However, she revealed that her part was already done, the Lake Verity Pokemon was already sent to the Galactic HQ, and I had failed to stop them. Apparently the cave had appeared here after the explosion, with the Lake Verity Pokemon coming out probably to help it's friends, which made it easy to catch. They caught Mesprit, the "Being of Emotion," Azelf, the "Being of Willpower," and Uxie, the "Being of Intelligence."

After they left, I talked with Rowan and Dawn. Rowan was disappointed that all three were taken, but impressed that both Dawn and I went up against full-fledged criminals, and happy that neither of us was hurt. He then wondered about Lake Acuity, and if Simon was safe. I wondered too, knowing how headstrong he is, rushing off without thinking. I headed home to heal my Pokemon, knowing I had a long journey ahead of me to get to Lake Acuity way up north.

Pokemon Pearl - Canalave Gym

Before I started through Canalave Gym, I put Maximus into the PC storage and went to Iron Island again to get that egg from Riley. While in that part of the cave, I battled a pair of Workers and beat them easily, and also found a Max Potion and HP Up. I also managed to catch a Steelix (Steel/Ground, Male, Lv. 34), and then realized right after I caught it that I then had no room for the egg, and had to return to the city to drop off Steelix and head back to get the egg.

My team consisted of:

Alexander (Machamp, Fighting, Lv. 37)
Marcus (Staraptor, Normal/Flying, Lv. 38)
Lucius (Ponyta, Fire, Lv. 37)
Annabelle (Torterra, Grass/Ground, Lv. 37)
Maria (Gastrodon, Water/Ground, Lv. 37)
Maximus (Luxray, Electric, Lv. 37)

I went into the Gym, and found it to be a maze. I talked to the man by the door, who told me that the Gym Leader uses Steel-Type Pokemon. I know Fighting-Types and Fire-Types are best against them, so Alexander and Lucius will be my go-to Pokemon for this, as well as Marcus who has Close Combat.

I came across my first Trainer, and we fought. I sent out Alexander, and he sent out Steelix. Steelix used Screetch to lower Alexander's defense, but then Alexander used Revenge and did massive damage, bringing it to the yellow. Alexander then used Rock Smash and did great damage, but Steelix clung on, and countered with Double-Edge, which did great damage to Alexander without doing any recoil damage to Steelix. I had Alexander hit it with another Rock Smash to knock it out and win the fight, and he grew to Level 38.

I continued past the Trainer and found a couple platforms, and when I went on one it rose up to a dead end. It appears that this is a multi-floor gym, and I need to navigate several floors worth of mazes to finally reach the Gym Leader. I went past a couple platforms to fight another Worker. He sent out Onix, and I sent out Alexander. Onix used Iron Tail for minor damage, and then Alexander countered with Revenge, and knocked it out in one blow. Before I continued on, I decided to go ahead and use TM35 to teach Lucius Flamethrower in place of Ember.

I went up one platform, across a hall, then down another platform, and got into another battle with an Ace Trainer, and Lucius took out both his Pokemon easily. I continued on to go up another platform, then went across on a platform, and made my way up again on another platform to a third floor. I went across on another platform, then got into a battle with a Worker, and went past him on a couple platforms to fight with a Black Belt, and after a victory which saw Lucius grow to Level 38 and learn Fire Blast in place of Take Down, I kept on going.

I kept on my way, and got into another battle with an Ace Trainer, then continued further on a few platforms before I finally found myself in front of the Gym Leader, Byron. He revealed to me that his son is the Oreburgh Gym Leader, telling me that his son still has much to learn. He then challenged me, and we fought.

Byron sent out Bronzor, and I sent out Alexander to fight it. Bronzor used Flash Cannon for minor damage, then Alexander countered with Revenge for massive damage, and knocked it out in one blow. Next up was Bastiodon, and I decided to send out Marcus. Marcus' Intimidate cut it's attack in half, and then I had Marcus use Close Combat for massive, super effective damage, and it was knocked out in one blow. Marcus grew to Level 39, and then I switched out to Lucius to fight his final Pokemon, Steelix. Lucius used Fire Blast for massive, super effective damage, and Steelix too was knocked out in one blow. I won the battle, proud of my Pokemon and feeling confident at my training and movesets.

Byron congratulated me on my victory and my strong Pokemon, before handing over $4600 and the Mine Badge! With the Mine Badge I can use Strength anytime, meaning I can go do more exploring now, and all Pokemon up to Level 70 will obey me. He also gave me TM91 (Flash Cannon), a special Steel move that does great damage and may also lower the target's special defense. Byron was amused at how Trainers like Simon and I were popping up, and between us and his son the future of the Pokemon world was bright, but he wasn't about to step down yet!

I made my way out of the Gym, and met up with Simon. He immediately noticed the Mine Badge, and told me I was tough enough to consider going for the Sinnoh Championship. He then boasted that he was tougher though, so it wouldn't happen. He then told me to come with him to the library, before running off. I decided to heal my Pokemon before going back to the Canalave Library.

Current Team:

Lucius (Ponyta, Fire, Lv. 38)

Pokemon Pearl - Iron Island

Before I got supplies, I went ahead and used an extra copy of Pokemon Pearl I got from a friend (barely started) to get the other two starters for Diamond/Pearl, a Chimchar (Fire, Male, Lv. 5) I named Samuel, and a Piplup (Water, Male, Lv. 5) I named Darius. I'm going to train them when I get to Y, when I plan on training my whole collection of Pokemon. I went to the Poke Mart and bought healing items and Pokeballs, then I went to Sailor Eldritch to sail to Iron Island.

I got to the island, and when I went up some stairs I found a house that was obviously lived in, but empty. I assumed the owner must be somewhere on the island, and headed further up to enter a cave. The cave entrance had steel beams and oil cans around, obviously there was some kind of construction going on in the caverns. There were two sets of stairs to go deeper into the cave, and I took the stairs on the right, and made my way through a ways before encountering a Trainer.

The Trainer, a Picnicker, sent out Staravia, and I sent out Marcus, and the attack of both Pokemon was cut by Intimidate on each other. Marcus tried to use Take Down, but missed, then it hit Marcus with Endeavor for great damage. Staravia then used Quick Attack for minor damage, and then Marcus went high, and when he Flew down to strike he knocked it out in that one blow. Next up was Cherrim, and I sent out Lucius to fight it. Lucius used Ember, and it did massive damage, then Cherrim used Sunny Day which I figured would only hurt it against a Fire-Type like Lucius, and yet to my surprise it blossomed in the light, showing itself to be an adorable little Pokemon. Unfortunately I needed to take it out, and I had Lucius use Fire Spin to do minor damage, but keep it in a vortex. Lucius got hit by Magical Leaf for minor damage, and Cherrim got a bit of damage from Fire Spin. Lucius finished it off with Stomp, and I won the battle.

I found a Super Repel and an Escape Rope while I explored the cave, and came across a Graveler that I took out with Marcus using Close Combat. I also came across an Onix, but knocked it out before I could catch it. Marcus grew to Level 36 after that fight, and I kept onward. I found an elevator platform that brought me down further into the earth, and I decided to continue to the right again. I found a couple Workers running around this area, and I fought and beat them. One of them told me he worked in this cave, before it was shut down. The other told me that they were apparently there to make sure the lifts worked properly. After the battles, Alexander grew to Level 36, and he wanted to learn Wake-Up Slap but I declined, not seeing any real use outside of Competitive Battling. I grabbed a TM23 (Iron Tail) before moving on.

Before heading to the left path, I managed to catch an Onix (Rock/Ground, Male, Lv. 31) and found an Iron. I met up with a man named Riley down the left side, a Trainer who offered to team up with me in the cave. I accepted his offer, and just like the previous times he healed my Pokemon as we went through the cave. I talked to Riley, and he told me the cave used to be a fairly thriving ore mine, but the iron ran out and now there's only Pokemon around. He also told me that he was considered for the Canalave Gym Leader by it's current leader, Byron, but told me that Byron's son Roark was also to be considered. Before we continued on, he told me that the Pokemon here were agitated for some reason.

I went up against a pair of Hikers, and they sent out Zubat and Graveler, while I sent out Maria and Riley sent out Lucario. Lucario used Bone Rush against Graveler for great damage, then Maria hit it with Mud Bomb to knock it out. Maria got hit by Zubat's Wing Attack for minor damage, and Machoke was sent out. Maria's Quick Claw activated, and she hit Machoke with Body Slam for great damage and paralysis, then Lucario used Metal Claw against Machoke. Zubat used Confuse Ray to confuse Lucario, then Machoke used Submission on Maria for great damage but got knocked out by recoil. Maria grew to Level 36, and with Quick Claw activating again used Body Slam to take Zubat out in one hit. Golbat was sent out, and Lucario used Metal Claw for great damage, but then Golbat hit both Maria and Lucario with Air Cutter for minor damage. Maria hit Golbat with Body Slam for great damage, bringing it to the red. Maria's Quick Claw activated again and she hit it with Water Pulse to knock it out, and Lucario snapped out of confusion. Finally Onix was sent out, and was hit by Lucario's Steel Claw for great damage, and then got finished off by Maria's Water Pulse.

I continued on, doing training against wild Pokemon since I had my team constantly healed by Riley. While training, I found a couple items, and both Lucius and Annabelle both grew to Level 36. I continued training, found an Iron Plate and a Magnet, and both Alexander and Maximus grew to Level 37. I continued around the cave and Marcus grew to Level 37, and I fought against several Trainers. After defeating all those Trainers, Maria and Annabelle grew to Level 37, and I tried to catch a Steelix and failed, but at least Lucius grew to Level 37 after that battle.

I got to the end of this area, and I found a couple of Team Galactic Grunts standing by the lift. I went over, and Riley figured that it must be the Galactic Grunts responsible for agitating the Pokemon. He warned them against bringing trouble into his mine, revealing that he owned it all, but the Grunts told us that they would take all the Pokemon they wanted, and that they were working to take ALL the Pokemon from Iron Island. Riley grew angry, as did I, and we fought the Galactic Grunts to stop them.

The two Grunts had a lot of Pokemon for this, and they sent out Zubat and Glameow, while I sent out Marcus and Riley sent out Lucario. Marcus' Intimidate cut the Galactic Pokemon attack, and then Marcus hit Glameow with Close Combat to take it out in one blow. Lucario hit Zubat with Force Palm for good damage, but it was otherwise ineffective, then he got hit with Wing Attack for minor damage. Stunky was sent out, and Marcus used another Close Combat for massive damage, which took out Stunky in one blow, then Lucario hit Zubat with Metal Claw to do massive damage and knock it out. Zubat and Croagunk were sent out next, and I had Marcus fly up high, while Lucario used Bone Rush against Croagunk to great effect, knocking it out in just two hits. Zubat missed it's Wing attack against Lucario, then Lucario hit it with Quick Attack for great damage, before Marcus Flew down and knocked it out. Finally a Golbat was sent out, and Marcus used Take Down to do massive damage and bring it to the red, then he took minor damage from recoil. Golbat used Mean Look to keep Lucario in the fight, but it didn't help at all as Lucario's Metal Claw knocked it out, and Marcus grew to Level 38 upon victory. The battle was won, and we kicked Team Galactic out of Iron Island.

After the two Galactic Grunts left, Riley offered me a Pokemon Egg, which I accepted, but unfortunately I had no space to hold it. He told me he'd wait there for me, and I made my way out of the cave. On my way out I found a Shiny Stone, then I went down a few ledges to meet the Sailor who brought me over, and we went back to Canalave City.

My Pokemon are well trained now, I'm sure they'll be able to take on anything and everything that the Canalave Gym can throw at them!

Current Team:

Lucius (Ponyta, Fire, Lv. 37)

Pokemon Pearl - Canalave City

I got to Jubilife City, and I went to the Poketch Company building to see if a new App was available, and I was greeted with Link Searcher, which determines the availability of wireless hot spots. I also visited the Jubilife City TV Station to get into a battle with a Cameraman. He sent out a Pachirisu, and I sent out Lucius.  His Pachirisu used Quick Attack for minimal damage, then Lucius countered with Stomp for massive damage, bringing it down to the red. Pachirisu used Endure, then Lucius used Ember to bring it down further but Endure stopped it from being knocked out. Lucius then hit it with stomp and knocked it out, and the battle was won.

I went west to Route 218, and Surfed west to grab some Honey, and battle a couple Fishermen. One of them had a couple Gyarados that went down easily from Maximus' Spark attack, then the other had a bunch of Magikarp and a Gyarados that also went down easily against Lucius and Marcus. I went around and continued on land, and came across a Sailor who wanted a fight. I beat him rather easily, and Lucius grew to Level 35, then I healed my Pokemon and moved on.

I went through the gate to find Dawn's father there. He greeted me, and told me that Professor Rowan asked that he upgrade my Pokedex. After performing the upgrade, he told me that it can now display images of male and female Pokemon, though I doubt that's going to be very useful as there's little difference between genders. I wonder why they don't do more gender differentiation like how animals have in real life, where males are usually more colorful to attract mates and the females are more plain looking. Dawn's father also asked me to keep my eye on Team Galactic, telling me that the Professor was concerned about what happened in Jubilife City.

I continued on my way to Canalave City, the "Cargo Port" as the sign said. I talked to people around the city, and was given TM48 (Skill Swap) which exchanges the user's ability with that of it's opponent. I also came across a man called the Move Deleter, who allows me to remove a Pokemon's move whenever I want to have it learn something new from a Move Tutor. I went to the Pokemon Center and healed my Pokemon, and I decided to go ahead and teach Marcus Roost in place of Aerial Ace, so that it could use something like Take Down and regain health, and to counter the defense/special defense drop from Close Combat.

I started across the bridge in the middle of the city and came across Simon again, who bumped into me AGAIN. He assumed I was going in to fight the Gym Leader here, and decided he was going to check if I was ready for the challenge. I sent out Maria and he sent out Staravia, whose Intimidate cut Maria's attack. Staravia used Quick Attack for minor damage, and Maria countered with Surf for massive damage which knocked it out instantly. Simon sent out Roselia next, and I sent out Marcus. Marcus' Intimidate cut it's attack, then he Flew. Roselia used Toxic Spikes to mine the area, then it was knocked out in one blow by Fly. Marcus grew to Level 35, and then I sent out Maximus to fight his Buizel. Maximus was poisoned by the Toxic Spikes that were laid out by Roselia, but he went ahead and used Spark to take out Buizel in one hit, and he grew to Level 36. I sent out Marcus again to fight his Heracross, knowing a Bug/Fighting type would have 4X weakness against flying attacks. Marcus Flew, avoiding it's Brick Break, and then hit it with Fly to take it out in one blow. Last up was Monferno, and I sent out Maria once more. Maria was poisoned by the Toxic Spikes, and then got hit by Brick Break for good damage, but she countered with Surf and knocked it out in one blow to grow to Level 35. I won the battle, got $3500, and Simon admitted that I was a better than him, as usual.

I went back to the Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon again, then I went on to find the Canalave Library. I went through the first floor, and then the second, finding books too advanced for my character to understand, but I was told by someone on the second floor that the third floor carried the easier books. On the third floor, I came across a book titled "Sinnoh Region's Mythology" and proceeded to read it. It told me that when Sinnoh was made, humans and Pokemon led separate lives, though they helped one-another. They supplied and supported each other, and the Pokemon eventually decided to always be ready to help humans, to be ready to always appear before humans, and that's why Pokemon appear in tall grass.

I read another book, "Sinnoh Myth," and it went "Betray not your anger, lest ??? will come. Weep not with sorrow, or ??? will draw near. When joy and enjoyment come natural as the very air, that is happiness. Let such be blessed by the hand of Master ???. Those words were spoken often as customary." I have no idea what any of it means, but it kinda sounds like an evil Santa Claus or something.

Another book was found, titled "Sinnoh's Myth." It discussed three Pokemon, who dove deep into the lakes. It said that they dove deeper and deeper, then from the lake floor they rose. It said that with the power to make vast lands, they rose. I'm not quite sure what that means either, but it seems like a lot of different myths here in the Sinnoh region, more than I'm sure are to be found in any other region.

I kept looking around, and I found a book titled "Veilstone's Myth," and I found it told me about a young, foolish man who came to own a sword, and how he used it to smite Pokemon. He ate them for sustenance, but otherwise just kept on killing them too, and the following year no Pokemon appeared and thus food became scarce. He sought the missing Pokemon, and journeyed far, for a very long time, until he finally found one. He asked the Pokemon why it hid, and it replied that if he bore his sword to bring them harm, they would strike back with claws and fangs to exact a toll. They would take this toll from humanity itself, for it must be done to guard themselves. The man was dismayed, realizing how much he lost after finding the sword, having grown blind in his power to Pokemon being living things, and he denounced and forsook the sword, promising to never kill again. He begged forgiveness, breaking his sword when he threw it to the ground, and the Pokemon disappeared "to a place beyond seeing." An interesting, if somewhat dark myth.

I found another book, "The Original Story," and it told me of the beginning of Sinnoh. It told me at the beginning there was only churning turmoil and chaos, and at the heart of it where everything converged, there appeared an egg. The egg gave rise to the Original One, and this Original One made two beings from itself, after which time spun and space expanded. The Original One continued to make three living things from itself again. The two beings wished and so matter came to be, then the three living things wished and then spirit came to be. With the world created, the Original One went to sleep.

Yet another book, titled "A Horrific Myth," warned against looking into a certain Pokemon's eyes, for you shall have your mind wiped with no recollection of who you are, and to not dare touch it's body, or you'll have your emotions drained away in just 3 days. It also said above all, not to harm the Pokemon, or after 5 days you'll become petrified for eternity. This was another dark myth, and I have no idea which Pokemon it could be talking about.

The last book I found was called "Sinnoh Folk Stories" and it had a few stories to it. The first story advised to pick clean the bones of fish-like Pokemon caught in the water, to thank them for the meals they provide and not waste anything they give. It advised to set the bones free in the water where you got them after being picked clean, that the Pokemon will return fully fleshed, and begin anew. The second story told of a Pokemon that lived in a forest, and how it shed it's hide to sleep as a human. When awake, the human would don the Pokemon hide to roam the villages. The third story told of Pokemon that became very close to humans, how they ate together at the same table. It told of how there was a time when there existed no differences to distinguish the two. Interesting stories, the last being quite curious. I wonder what it means, that Pokemon and humans were that close, that there were no differences between the two?

I decided to leave the library, after having found out what I could about the stories of the region, and I explored the town further. I was told by one man that the Gym Leader and Trainers go to Iron Island to train, where they also work out. I went into one house and found an interviewer who asked what my favorite Type was, to which I said Grass. I went down further and found a Sailor with a ship who would bring me to Iron Island. I decided to go load up on some healing items and Pokeballs before I set sail. I hope I can get my Pokemon trained quite a bit over there!

Pokemon Pearl - Fuego Ironworks, Floaroma Meadow, and Pal Park

I started out going back to the Seven Stars Restaurant to get some quick cash and experience, and by the end of it Maria and Lucius grew to Level 34. With a few more wins under my belt and cash in the pocket, I Flew to Floaroma Town, and healed my Pokemon before I headed north to explore the Fuego Ironworks.

When I went inside, I found it to be a maze, filled with panels on the ground that would push me in whatever direction they pointed to. I knew I'd have a hell of a time trying to get through, glad to at least have Escape Rope with me, but wishing I had brought healing items too...

I came across a Worker named Dillan there who wanted to fight, and I sent out Alexander to fight his Machop. Machop used Submission for good damage, but Alexander countered with Revenge and knocked it out in one blow. Alexander grew to Level 34 after defeating the Machop, then prepared to fight Machoke. Machoke used Seismic Toss to do great damage, but Alexander countered with another Revenge, and took out Machoke in one blow too. The battle was won, and I continued on.

I switched my Pokemon around and activated my Dowsing Machine before I stepped on another few panels, and I found a Burn Heal. I soon came across another Worker, and got into another battle. I sent out Marcus, and he sent out Steelix. Marcus cut Steelix attack with Intimidate, then went high, avoiding it's Slam attack. Marcus hit it with Fly, but it was ineffective and did minimal damage, then he got hit by Dragon Breath for minor damage. I switched out to Alexander again, even being as injured as he was, and he got hit by Dragon Breath for minor damage and paralysis. Steelix hit Alexander with Slam for minor damage, then Alex hit it with Submission to take it out, but got injured in the attack and brought to the red. The battle was won, but Alexander couldn't continue fighting.

I kept going on, and I found a Fire Stone in a small area, before I encountered a small puzzle where three panels pushed toward a group of panels, and I had to figure out which would help me on my way. I looked closely at the panels, and decided to take my chance on the top panel. I made it to another Worker, but was able to double-back before battle to find a Rock Incense. I fought the Worker, who sent out Rapidash, and I sent out Marcus to fight it. Intimidate cut it's attack before the battle, then Marcus was hit with Ember which did good damage and caused a burn. Marcus hit Rapidash with Aerial Ace, but it did minor damage, and then Marcus was hurt by the burn. I switched out to Maria, knowing she'd take it out no problem. Maria was hit by Take Down for minor damage, and then hit Rapidash with Surf to knock it out and win the battle.

I moved forward and got pushed by another couple panels, and I made my way to the furnace, where I met Mr. Fuego, the owner of the Fuego Ironworks. He told me he tried to make the Ironworks run better with moving floor tiles, but no-one was happy about being made dizzy by the panels! He gave me a souvenir, another Fire Stone, and then I found TM35 (Flamethrower) in front of the furnace before finding my way outside.

I had Marcus fly us back to Floaroma Town to heal up, as well as to buy plenty of healing items for any situation as dangerous as the Fuego Ironworks were. I went back up the river, then went south of the Ironworks to find the northern part of Floaroma Meadow. With my Dowsing Machine, I managed to find a Revive, a Max Potion, a Potion, a Miracle Seed, a Full Heal, Honey, another Revive, a Leaf Stone, a Paralyze Heal, and finally a Hyper Potion. I looked around a bit longer, then decided that I found everything I could, before I jumped off the small ledge south and headed right back into Floaroma Town.

I decided to keep going with the directions I was getting from Bulbapedia, and had Marcus Fly me to Sandgem Town. I headed south to Sandgem Beach, and used Surf to travel through Route 219 and Route 220. Before I went through it, I kept on Route 219 a bit to fish, and caught a Finneon (Water, Female, Lv. 15) and battled a couple Trainers. Marcus grew to Level 34, and then evolved into Staraptor, after which he also learned Close Combat in place of Wing Attack.

I went south on Route 220 and encountered several Trainers, and Annabelle grew to Level 34. I went past them and found a Splash Plate, which I pocketed along with an Ether before continuing on. I went east through the middle path, and came across another couple Trainers. I defeated them easily enough, and Annabelle grew to Level 35. I finally made it to land, and found a Protein and Honey as I made my way east to find Pal Park.

I had to fight a Collector on my way over there, but finally I made it to Pal Park, only to find that it was still under construction. I'm sure it will remain that way until I finally have the National Pokedex too...  I fought an Ace Trainer just south of Pal Park, and took her out easily. Maximus grew to Level 35 and learned Crunch in place of Bite. I also went through the grass to find TM81 (X-Scissor), and to fight another Ace Trainer. After beating the Trainer, Alexander grew to Level 35 and then I flew off to Jubilife City to heal up and continue my adventure.
