Pokemon SoulSilver - Catching Latios

I decided before I would continue on my journey to finally capture the Latios that was going around the Kanto region looking his sibling. I first went to Saffron City, then I made my way over to Lavender Town where I found a decent spot on Route 8, and I went between town and route for a time before I spotted Latios.

I encountered Latios (Dragon/Psychic, Male, Lv. 35) and realized I might have a difficult time trying to weaken him without just knocking him out. I decided to send out Samuel, and he used Rock Smash for great damage, but thankfully it left Latios with plenty of health left. I knew just a couple more hits with Rock Smash would bring him to the yellow or even red.

After a time I got Latios down to no more than 3 HP, a sliver of health deep in the red. I knew I just had to toss plenty of Pokeballs to catch him. I tried using a Fast Ball first, one shake before it broke, then a Quick Ball which failed instantly. I knew I'd probably be best off with Ultra Balls, or at worst use the Master Ball I still had. I truly wish I could get a couple more of them for the other Legendary Pokemon I know are still in Kanto.

After a time I found Latios again, and tried another Fast Ball, which gave three shakes before it finally failed. I didn't have many Fast Balls so I knew I had to be careful, but worst-case scenario I would be able to reload the game after I got Latios to the red and try again.

I tossed another Fast Ball with no luck, and then had to wait for a time before Latios came back again. As long as it was taking for me to find him, I started wondering if maybe I should just use my Master Ball on Latios and be done with it.

After a couple hours of trying to find Latios and using different Pokeballs with no luck, including Fast Balls, Quick Balls, and Ultra Balls, I finally caught Latios with my only Master Ball, same as his sibling Latias in Hoenn. I admit for a moment I was worried it would fail, after Latios kept breaking out so quickly from the other Pokeballs, but of course the Master Ball landed true.

I just hope that I won't regret using it on Latios.
