Pokemon Pearl - Back to the Underground

One of the bonuses for acquiring the National Pokedex is that you suddenly have a whole lot more available to find down in the tunnels of the Underground, as well as a better chance of finding rare items. I spent some time down below a couple times, not able to find too much besides some Spheres, Heart Scales, and Armor Fossils, and occasionally an Evolution Stone.

Lately I've been spending a lot of time down in the Underground, digging for Fossils and Heart Scales for the highly trained Pokemon I've been bringing over. I have been determined to get each and every Fossil Pokemon available to me, and my efforts have borne fruit.

Early on, I found a few Helix Fossils down in the tunnels ("Hail the Helix Fossil!" and all that nonsense) and an Armor Fossil or two. I kept on mining, determined to get more, and I was able to find a Dome Fossil. I was excited because I really like Kabutops. I kept at it and found myself a couple Root Fossils, glad that I could get the other Fossil Pokemon I hadn't chosen in Sapphire.

I went to the Museum in Oreburgh City to get the Fossils revived, getting a couple Omanyte, a Kabuto, and a few Lileep, then I had a few more Armor Fossils all revived into Shieldon (all at Lv. 20). I wanted at least one of each Fossil Pokemon, thinking I could go ahead and do some trading later on in X and Y when I get to them.

The interesting thing about Fossil Pokemon is the fact that they are all part Rock-Type, with Cranidos being the only one that is fully Rock-Type. It is unknown whether Fossil Pokemon were originally part Rock-Type or if perhaps they inherit it from the process of revival from being Fossils. This typing means that all Fossil Pokemon are strong against Flying-, Fire-, Bug-, and Ice-Types, on top of whatever their secondary Type is strong against, but they're always weak against Water-, Grass-, Fighting-, Ground-, and Steel-Type Pokemon.

I went back underground, determined to get my hands on more Fossils. I figured that Old Amber would be the hardest to find, being that it held the powerful Aerodactyl. I continued mining, and to my surprise quickly found an Old Amber, then soon after another one. I kept at it and found a third Old Amber, and another Helix Fossil and Dome Fossil, then I went back up to the Oreburgh Museum to revive them.

While I was down there, I also managed to find plenty of Evolutionary Stones, mainly Water Stones and Leaf Stones, and a couple Thunder Stones. I've found enough of them that I can start selling Evolutionary Stones for a profit, if I so wanted, but I think I'll do research on what Pokemon I have, and that I'm bringing over from Sapphire, to capitalize on the amount of stones I've got. I don't want to take too much time doing any extra training until X/Y, but so far I only know of Diamond/Pearl being easy to acquire Evolutionary Stones.

The Fossil Pokemon may not be the best for competitive play, but I find it very interesting to own ancient Pokemon from the prehistoric era. I'm glad to have gotten so many ancient Pokemon for myself and for future trading; I'm sure someone will enjoy having these Pokemon in their collection.

I'll keep bringing Pokemon over from Sapphire, and I'll keep on mining while I'm waiting to be done with that. I can't wait to be done transferring Pokemon over, and to continue on with Pearl to the end. I've got hundreds of hours of gameplay ahead of me, and the longer it takes to transfer Pokemon the longer I've got until I can finally hit Pokemon Y.
