Pokemon Black - The Mistralton Gym

Thanks to the training my team received by going through Route 7 and reaching the top of the Celestial Tower, I was ready to take on the challenges of the Mistralton Gym to earn my sixth Unova Badge.

My team consisted of:

Mason (Zebstrika, Electric, Lv. 35)
Madelyn (Unfezant, Normal/Flying, Lv. 35)
Norma (Palpitoad, Water/Ground, Lv. 34)
Zach (Liepard, Dark, Lv. 34)
Cole (Pignite, Fire/Fighting, Lv. 34)
Arthur (Simisage, Grass, Lv. 34)

I was told by Clyde at the entrance that to get around this unusual Pokemon Gym set inside an aircraft hangar that I would have to voluntarily launch myself from cannons throughout the hangar to reach Skyla. I wondered how many people actually took this challenge, considering the method of getting around.

I went inside the first cannon, and was shot forward, then I went to the next cannon and was shot to the left. The area was gated off, so I had to go back to the cannon I had just used to be fired to the right. From there I got into a battle, and when it was over Mason grew to Level 36, and he learned Discharged in place of Shock Wave.

I went back toward the entrance, and went into another battle with Madelyn this time at the lead. I went into the next cannon and was shot left, and I got into another battle with a Pilot, and Zach grew to Level 35 before I was able to go across on yet another cannon. I realized I could change direction on the cannon, and so went forward toward Skyla after a couple tries.

I reached another cannon, and was shot right, then got into another battle as I headed back to the cannon to go left. Madelyn grew to Level 36 after the battle, and then the cannon fired me to the left, and I got into another battle. I went back toward the entrance, then from another cannon went to the right, then onward I went forward, and finally shot left again to find myself in front of Skyla.

Skyla had been waiting for me, and asked if I had enjoyed flying with the cannons. Skyla told me that they were her pride and joy, and after that we began the battle.

I sent out Mason against Skyla's Swoobat, and his Spark hit it for massive damage, taking it out in a single blow. Unfezant was sent out next, and I kept Mason in the fight. Mason used Spark once more against Unfezant, and the attack did massive damage to knock it out. Mason grew to Level 37, and finally Swanna was sent out last.

I decided to try switching out to Madelyn, and she flew up high, then Swanna used Aqua Ring for healing before she avoided Fly, and then Madelyn was hit by Air Slash. I had Madelyn fly up high once more, and she avoided Swanna's Air Slash, before Fly landed for massive damage, and she was hit by Air Slash again for great damage. Madelyn finished the fight with Air Slash, which knocked Swanna out!

The battle was over, and I was victorious. Skyla was happy, because for the first time in a while she and her team could fight with their full strength. Skyla handed over the Jet Badge, my sixth Unova badge, which would allow me to control Pokemon up to Level 70. Skyla also handed over TM62 (Acrobatics) as thanks for the fun battle. Acrobatics would do double it's damage if the user wasn't holding an item.

Skyla told me that she spotted Team Plasma as she flew by Twist Mountain on the way to Icirrus City, heading toward the city where I would so happen to find my next Gym Badge. She asked me what kind of people they were, but I didn't have time to explain as I headed out to heal my team.

I was stopped by N as I left the Gym, and he told me that while Trainers claim battles are to better understand one another, the battles are really just used to compete, and so they hurt each other's Pokemon. N wondered if he was the only one who found this to be painful, but before I could respond he told me that he would talk to my Pokemon.

N told me he had been living with Pokemon since he was born, so he had an easier time talking with them than with people, because supposedly Pokemon never tell lies. N talked to Mason, asking him what kind of Trainer I was, and the two talked for a time, and Mason told N all about me. N told me that Mason trusts me, and said that was good, telling me that if all people and Pokemon cared about one another like we did, then he could watch over the future without having to liberate Pokemon from people who use them.

N told me that Ghetsis was using Team Plasma to search for some special stones, the Light Stone and the Dark Stone, and he told me that the stones held the essence of two legendary Pokemon. N told me that legends said they lost their physical forms, and fell into a slumber during which they transformed into stones. N told me that they now await a legendary hero, and that he would be that hero by resurrecting one of those two Legendary Dragon-Type Pokemon.

N believed that everyone would follow what he had to say, but I was doubtful, and he claimed that his vision was to change the world without using force. N was wise enough to know that trying to change the world by force would just encourage resistance, but I had no idea what he planned to do peacefully with a Legendary Pokemon. N told me that if people were to resist, then innocent Pokemon would be the ones to suffer.

I understood that Pokemon weren't just tools, and yet N would separate Pokemon from Trainers like myself who cared about them. N told me that it broke his heart a bit, but apparently he felt it had to be done. N left, and I headed to the Pokemon Center, where I had my team healed up.

I remembered a kid in a nearby house telling me he'd tell me something when I beat the Mistralton Gym, and when I showed him my Jet Badge he told me they left a treasure at the edge of the runway. I went to the runway, looked for a bit, and found TM40 (Aerial Ace). I was spotted by the kid and his sister, and they told me that they didn't have a Pokemon, but they planned to hide TM40 until they got one. They decided it would be a waste to keep hiding it, and so let me use it, and that they would get another one from Skyla.

The two kids left, and I taught Madelyn to use Aerial Ace in place of Air Slash. I would have to head through Twist Mountain to Icirrus City, and stop Team Plasma's latest plot before they could bring their plans to fruition. N may have more admirable goals for the future, but I had little doubt that Ghetsis was planning something far more sinister.
